Daily Thanks – 5 of 30

Day 5 starts off with a pop quiz: What’s the body’s largest organ? The answer is…the skin. Yes, like many other functions of our precious body, we rarely give thought about our skin unless we have a problem with it, like rashes or acne. But the skin plays a vital role in regulating body temp with sweat glands (see Day 2 Thanks) as well as being the first line of defense against bacteria & other foreign objects entering the body.
It is surprisingly elastic, water resistant, and tough to pierce, yet at the same time ultra sensitive, able to detect the faintest of touches all over the body.
The skin, like all cells in the body, is constantly regenerating itself – we get a new layer of skin about once a month.
The skin covers and “joins” the entire body, keeping everything together. A similar aspect of God’s providence is the “joining” or connections of people.
Just as the skin works to help and protect our bodies, let’s maintain strong connections with others, be flexible, and help & protect each other. This will surely bring happiness to our Parent.
I’m thankful for the skin that I’m in, and I mean that literally. 😄
