Daily Thanks – 12 of 30

With the arrival of baby earlier this year, I have been blessed with five beautiful children. The miracle of birth is, of course, joyous and wonderful. But the miracle of a child’s development in the womb is even more spectacular.
The entire evolution of our species over a billion years is re-enacted over the 10 months of gestation inside the womb – have you ever thought about it like that?
All human life begins with the joining of two cells. By the divine workings of God (via genetic codes) the cells continue to divide & grow to become a baby.
Modern medicine is able to look inside the body & in the very early stages of life, it is difficult if not impossible to distinguish a human embryo from an animal’s.
As the human baby grows, it slowly passes through stages of development which mimics our evolution from fish, to reptiles, to birds, to beasts, to primates, and finally to humans.
Even the fact that we are conceived and mature in the liquid environment of the womb & then emerge with our first breath of air at birth is symbolic of the origins of life as we know it – starting off in the “muddy waters” of our earth and eventually evolving to dwell on land.
God the Parent has conveniently incorporated the story and history of our entire creation within every conception & birth.
This is a bit abstract, but on this Day 12, I am THANKFUL for the exhaustive efforts of our Creator, who, step by step, have nurtured us over 900 million years to become the amazing human beings we are today!
