Daily Thanks – 13 of 30

Someone told me once that God is like eyelashes: although you can’t see it with your own eyes, you know its presence & it’s always there protecting you.
Yes, eyelashes are generally known to enhance the facial aesthetic, especially in women, right? But it really serves to block dust & debris from our precious eyes.
Being highly sensitive, it also provides a warning when an object gets too close to the eye.
Recently, a third role has been suggested by researchers. Apparently eyelashes help to reduce airflow from hitting the eyes. Since the eyes always have to be kept moist, the less airflow that hits the eye the better.
The study found that most mammals’ eyelashes are one-third the length of the eye, which seems to be the optimum length to block airflow. So although we tend to think longer lashes make you look “cuter” it actually becomes less effective if it exceeds the optimal length.
Hey, it’s Day 13 and I’m talking about 1/3 length – just a coincidence? In any case, I’m TAHNKFUL that God created eyelashes not only to constantly protect us, but also make us look good – a design so simple but yet perfectly balanced form and function. Thank you!
