Daily Thanks – 17 of 30

In my new role as church minister, I am supported tremendously by people all around me, near and far. Starting off with my dear wife, as well as my family, our congregation, friends (please keep reading my posts!) & co-workers (yes, I’m still keeping my day job), our upper church, Hawaii Mission Headquarters, and church headquarters in Tenri.
But the SUPPORT I, and we all, receive the most is from God the Parent. I don’t just mean that in a spiritual sense, by literally. Yes, I’m talking about our bones; our skeletal system.
Bones are generally known for keeping us upright and protecting our internal organs. But the bones have many other essential functions of which we are unaware. In fact, did you know that bones are actually considered “organs,” just like your liver & kidneys?
Bone marrow, for example, found in the center of larger bones, is necessary for the production of our red & white blood cells. Beyond that, bones are used as storage space for prosperous, calcium, and even fats.
Other minerals and acids are also absorbed and released by the bones as necessary to maintain our bodies’ pH balance.
The tiniest of bones in our bodies, located in the ear, are important for making vibrations which allow us to hear.
Another important function is to remove toxins from the blood, store it safely away from other organs, and slowly release it from the body through excretions.
So you see, God the Parent “supports” our bodies with bones not only structurally, but also in many other ways. I am THANKFUL on this Day 17, for the daily blessings I receive from my bones & all the other workings that keep me alive.
Since this is the season for giving, let’s show our appreciation by “supporting” our favorite charities, and our friends in need.

I am a fourth generation American of Japanese descent. My great-grandfather immigrated to Hawaii in 1907, and founded Taiheiyo Church in 1931. My grandfather became the 2nd head minister in 1956, and my father succeeded him as the 3rd head minister in 1981. On November 7, 2015, I was installed as the 4th head minister.
